Tom Hiddleston is unsure about the possibility of a third Thor movie.

The Loki actor, who will take on the role for a third time in the forthcoming Thor: The Dark Age - discussed the potential for another film from Marvel Studios with The Huffington Post.

"These kind of films, not to get too heavy about it, all depend on the financial success of the one before, so we'll have to see," he said.

The War Horse actor also discussed working with Alan Taylor, who has replaced Kenneth Branagh as the director of the second film.

"Ken established the tone, so we've taken the baton and kept running," said Hiddleston.

"Alan Taylor is fantastic, one of the men responsible for Game of Thrones which is so of that world, a very grounded, gritty, earthy world where warriors and swords and monsters and magic all meet, so his experience of that has given him a fantastic take on the whole world of Thor.

"I went to a summer screening of a Marvel short film. Ken came and so did Alan, it was very clear how much mutual respect [there was] between them and I thought, 'OK, it's going to be fine'."

Hiddleston will rejoin Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins alongside newcomers Christopher Eccleston and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Thor: The Dark World will be released on November 8, 2013.
